Taking Stock : July 2015

Hello my cherubs! How are you? I’m going okay. A little bit of a Busy Betsy at the moment so I’m trying to make a conscious effort to fit in some relax and recharge time. This month’s Taking Stock post reflects that a little, me thinks!

visit Hoping: I can make the time to get through my huuuuge-ass pile of paper inspiration this weekend. I love flicking through all sorts of things – you’ll never know what you’ll find!

Paper inspiration - TS July 2015

free viagra samples before buying uk Wondering: if my new cacti and succulents will make it through this chilly winter…I’ve been meaning to make a new closed terrarium for them but don’t have the glass bowl yet. Fingers crossed they can hang in there!

Reading: Volume 3 of Spaces by frankie magazine and Game of Thrones. Yes, I’ve only just started getting into it – I’m slow to catch onto trends, okay?

How has the month of July been for you? Do you have any paper inspiration you read religiously? What are you reading and/or listening to?

These Taking Stock posts are based on an idea by the wonderful Pip Lincolne over at the Meet Me At Mike’s blog. Head here to check out her Taking Stock posts and to find a blank copy of the full list.

Jacquie is a 20-something maker and writer from Melbourne. She enjoys eating virtually anything that is labelled salted caramel and, contrary to popular belief, has forgotten how to ride a bike. She feels ambivalent about writing in the third person but thought it might be fun. It was.

Oh I like your mag stack and definitely am looking forward to seeing what you and the Janome create!
    Good stuff lady.
    Here’s to you!

Aw thanks, Annette. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can remember from the few brief experiences I’ve had with sewing – will definitely have to learn on the spot, I’m thinking! Here’s to you too, lovely lass *raises glass for cheers* Thanks for stopping by 😀

Hola Miss Jacquie! Love your Taking Stock + lovely pics. I hope your cacti survive the Melbourne winter. I’ve been reading random copies of Collective mag and Kinfolk mag that I’ve found lying around Nanjing. I don’t normally buy magazines, but these ones are quite good..thinking of changing my ways and jumping on the magazine band wagon! And listening to Anne of Green Gables as an audio book. Soooo sweet and good. PS Exciting about your Etsy shop creative inspiration, loving the look of that sewing machine and cute fabrics in the background 🙂

      Thanks Isabel!

Yes, me too. I must admit I am neglecting them a little as it’s just so cold, I don’t think to venture into the back yard to check on them!

I was never a huge magazine fan until frankie and Peppermint and now I subscribe to both. I love finding them delivered on my doorstep – always brightens my day. I’ve heard good things about both Collective and Kinfolk. Enjoy!

Oohh audio books, I should really get onto them, I feel. They sound handy for pottering around the house and driving.

Thank you! Yes, I am quite excited but also a little nervous :/ Not sure how things are going to roll. Only time will tell, I suppose!

Exciting news about your creative mojo Jacqui , watch this space hey ? Just today I thought about dragging our my sewing machine, maybe it’s the winter temperatures? Lovely reading your taking stock post and seeing your images x

    1. birdandfox

Yaaay! Thanks Emily. I’m so happy I’m feeling better about things in a crafty sense. Progress will most likely be slow and steady but I will definitely keep people updated. I think there is something about the colder weather and crafting in general, for sure! Are you much of a sewer? I’ll keep an eye out for anything you might make 🙂 Thanks so much for your lovely words, Emily x

I always have a pile of mags to read and flick through and when I do, there is always a gem waiting for me. We get Frankie magazine way after they are published with you, but I love to read them anyway even a couple of months old. My favorite favourite magazine is Flow which I order online as it is published in Holland (it is written in English!).
That sewing machine looks ready to go!

    1. birdandfox

That’s exactly it, Clare – I always find something that inspires me or really strikes a chord. frankie magazines are always good, no matter how old they are! I’ve heard good things about Flow magazine but have never got my hands on a copy – yet!

It sure does and I can’t wait until I can set aside some time to get practicing.

Thanks so much for commenting, Clare 🙂
