Nice Things #2

We’re already one whole month into the New Year, people! Pretty much everyone will be back at work now I should think so it really is perfect timing for another list of Nice Things! I’m fairly biased, but I’m pretty excited.

  • One of my favourite blogs at the moment is The Slowpoke. It offers insight into and information on living a more sustainable life, from recipes to gardening. Makes me want to buy my own patch of land and start a farm, seriously.
  • Guys, guys! It’s a candle that smells like old-book-smell! Yeah, I’m serious!
  • Have you got a fancy camera that you never put into manual mode? I’m not going to lie, I was kind of scared but also kind of lazy to use the manual mode on mine but it really is a lot of fun and you do start to learn the ins and outs of the actual taking-a-photo process by having a play. Practicing Simplicity has started writing some great beginner posts so I’d definitely recommend checking them out!
  • Not a morning person? Neither am I. Lord knows, I’m really not. I’m also not an evening person either, which is awkward. Anyhow, this is a list of seven easy things you can do to make the mornings that little bit easier on you.
  • It’s still pretty early in the new year so maybe you haven’t got a pretty little desk calender yet? Check out these free, printable monthly calenders from Oh The Lovely Things – the designs are so cute!

How is the New Year shaping up for you? I hope February treats you well! Is there anything you’re particularly excited about this month?

Jacquie is a 20-something maker and writer from Melbourne. She enjoys eating virtually anything that is labelled salted caramel and, contrary to popular belief, has forgotten how to ride a bike. She feels ambivalent about writing in the third person but thought it might be fun. It was.

Candles that smell like books?!?!? Heaven 🙂

I don't know whether to be excited or daunted, but now that January is over I'm feeling a real need to get my arse into gear and set some goals. It's like, holidays are over and I'm having an enthusiasm burst for all the good stuff I can do this year! x

I know, right?? I was gobsmacked when I first found it but haven't treated myself…yet.

I think that's one of the best feelings there is, Kate! I often find January is one of those awkwardly-paced months where you're just starting to get going again but you've still got one foot in "I wanna be on holidaaaaay" camp. February is when shit gets done! x

Oh I loved the beginner post on shooting in manual mode! I think I need that stuff daily just to make sink into my brain!
I'm excited about a couple of gigs coming up in Feb and the birthdays of both my hubby and my daughter!

  6. birdandfox

I'm the same, Yvette! I struggle to get the manual mode stuff to sink in properly – though I'm better now.

Ooh the gigs sound like fun. Are you playing or watching? And birthdays! They're always good fun. I hope you enjoy it all! Thanks for stopping by 🙂 x

  7. Laura

How insanely good does that sandwich look! Definitely want to try making the kumara chips. What a great list of things Jacquie. 🙂

  8. birdandfox

So good! I think I discovered that food blog through you, actually, so thank you! Thanks for stopping by, Laura 🙂
